Ottawa – Arab Canada News

The federal election campaign in Canada continues to gain momentum today, with party leaders focusing on the issue of living costs, as Liberal Party leader Mark Carney conducted a campaign tour in his riding in downtown Ottawa, receiving a warm welcome from his supporters.

In brief remarks to reporters, Carney emphasized his commitment to supporting the middle class and providing practical solutions to the cost-of-living crisis, stating:

“We know that Canadians are suffering from inflation and rising rents. Our plan puts people first and provides them with what they need to live with dignity.”

Poilievre in Winnipeg: Taxes Under the Microscope

In Winnipeg, Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre continued his campaign, focusing on high fees and taxes that he said “strangle Canadian families,” pledging to cancel the carbon tax and reduce fuel and food costs.

Poilievre said before a crowd of supporters:

“Canadians deserve a government that stops the waste and puts money in their pockets, not in Ottawa's coffers.”

Singh Calls for Increased Social Support

Meanwhile, New Democratic Party leader Jagmeet Singh held a conference in Vancouver, calling for increased investment in housing and healthcare programs, stressing that his party “will not allow families to be left alone in the face of rising costs.”

He added:

“In a wealthy country like Canada, no one should have to choose between food and rent.”

The Economy at the Forefront of the Election Scene

It seems that the cost-of-living crisis will remain the dominant theme in this federal election, with each party striving to present its vision for consumer protection, support for the middle class, and achieving tangible economic stability in the face of increasing global pressures.
