The latest tracking poll conducted by Nanos Research has revealed that the Liberal Party of Canada, led by Mark Carney, has expanded its lead over the Conservative Party, led by Pierre Poilievre, with an 8-point lead in national voting intentions as the federal election campaign enters its third week.

According to data published on Sunday, the Liberals garnered 36.2% of voting intentions, compared to 28.1% for the Conservatives, while the New Democratic Party, led by Jagmeet Singh, ranked third with 20.5%.

Notable Shift in the Electoral Landscape

This Liberal advance represents the largest gap in Nanos polls since the campaign began, and is seen as an indicator of growing confidence in Carney, particularly after his focused attention on economic issues and the cost of living, which are among the top concerns of voters this cycle.

The decline of the Conservatives comes at a time when Poilievre's campaign is facing criticism and internal leaks regarding strategic disagreements, weakening his unified message on carbon taxes and the economy. The polling data also showed that Poilievre continues to suffer from a support gap among urban and young voters.

In contrast, the New Democratic Party has maintained a stable support base, particularly among young voters and the working class, although their regional prospects remain mixed, with limited influence in the major provinces.
