In a statement received by Arab Canada News, Canadian Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre announced today that a new Conservative government under his leadership will prioritize the safety of Canadians by adopting strict laws that ensure life imprisonment for the most dangerous criminals and putting an end to what he described as a "decade of liberal failure in dealing with crime."

Poilievre confirmed that his government will impose life sentences on anyone convicted of one of the following crimes:

• Committing five or more offenses related to human trafficking.

• Importing or exporting ten or more illegal firearms.

• Trafficking in lethal fentanyl.

Poilievre said:

“For too long, liberals have allowed crime to run rampant, opening the doors for criminals through lenient release policies and weak laws. The result? Unsafe cities, innocent victims, and a society that has lost faith in justice. Canadians today face a clear choice: either continue the chaos under a fourth Liberal government or have a strong Conservative government that restores law and puts Canada first.”

Liberal Legacy: Increasing Chaos and Rising Crime

According to official statistics, violent crime rates have risen by 50%, while human trafficking has doubled by 84% during the period the liberals led the government. Fentanyl alone has claimed the lives of over 50,000 Canadians, a figure that exceeds Canada’s human losses during World War II.

The statement noted that 85% of the guns seized in Toronto come from the United States, fueling the wave of gun violence on the streets of Canada.

Liberal Legislative Failure

Poilievre held the Liberal government, led by Justin Trudeau and his advisor Mark Carney, responsible for the deterioration of the criminal justice system, noting that:

• Bill C-5 repealed mandatory prison sentences for serious offenses related to guns and drugs.

• Bill C-75 facilitated bail releases, quickly returning criminals to the streets.

• Penalties for human trafficking have been reduced, making it harder to detain perpetrators of these heinous crimes.

Mark Carney… Weak Leadership Continues Liberal Failure

Poilievre criticized the current Liberal leader Mark Carney, describing him as "weak and disconnected from the reality of Canadians," and said:

“Carney did not object when the liberals tore apart the Criminal Code, showing no concern for the impact of their policies on Canadian families. He is part of the problem and cannot be part of the solution.”

Call for Change

Poilievre concluded his statement by affirming that Canada needs strong new leadership capable of restoring security, protecting citizens, and relentlessly confronting criminals, stating:

“A Canada that does not protect its children cannot defend its place in the world. The time for change has come. The time for the Conservative Party is now.”
