Toronto police have launched an intensive search campaign for two suspects in connection with a deadly shooting incident that occurred on Wednesday evening in the Etobicoke area of the city, resulting in the death of a man at the scene.
The police stated that their officers were called to the intersection of Martin Grove Road and Lexfield Road at around 7:40 PM, following reports of gunfire in the area. Upon their arrival, they found a man with serious injuries, who died at the scene despite resuscitation attempts.
The suspects fled the scene
According to preliminary investigations, the suspects fled the crime scene before the police arrived, and authorities are currently working to gather evidence from surveillance cameras and witnesses in the area to identify them.
A spokesperson for the Toronto police stated in a statement that the major crime unit is handling the investigation, noting that “the investigation is still in its early stages, and we urge anyone with information or dashcam footage from the area at that time to contact us immediately.”
Police reassure residents and increase patrols
The police confirmed that they have increased their presence in the area to reassure residents and monitor any security developments, while the motives for the shooting have not yet been announced, nor whether the crime is related to gang activity.
