Paris – Arab Canada News
French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his solidarity with the residents of Beirut following the airstrike carried out by Israel today, Friday, on the Al-Hadath neighborhood in the southern suburb of the Lebanese capital, an act considered a clear violation of the existing ceasefire agreement.
Macron stated in a brief comment:
“I express my solidarity with the residents of Beirut who witnessed today an Israeli strike, in violation of the ceasefire agreement. We are following the developments with great concern, and we call for restraint and to avoid further escalation.”
The French president's remarks come at a time when the region is experiencing a serious escalation, following the Israeli air force targeting a building that Tel Aviv said was used for storing drones belonging to Hezbollah, while the latter denied any connection to the rocket launches that preceded the airstrike.
