U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he had a “positive” call with Canadian Liberal Party leader Mark Carney, during which they discussed bilateral relations and recent trade tensions, asserting that both sides “agree on many issues,” and noting that a meeting will take place after the federal elections in Canada.

In remarks made to reporters on Thursday evening, Trump said:

“I spoke with Mark Carney, and it was a good call. We agree on many things and we will meet after the elections.”
